  1. (1452-1508) A member of the Sforza (Ital. force) family, Lodovico ruled Milan from 1480 to 1499. It was to Lodovico that Leonardo wrote his famous letter seeking employment, and for whom he worked for 17 years. Lodovico was overthrown by Louis XII of France.
